The Kaduna State Peacebuilding Academy (KSYPA) is a group of 100 young people comprising of 50:50 gender and religious representations across 5 communities in Kaduna State, trained and championing the course of promoting peacebuilding, religious tolerance and inter-communal trust. We have acquired skills on peacebuilding, conflict management and project management and are now working in different ways in our respective communities with other community members dealing with issues in the context of community challenges. This academy is supported by Plan International in partnership with The Kukah Centre.
WHAT WE DO
With the skills we have, we engage in community identification of issues around peacebuilding, religious tolerance and inter-communal trust, analyse them with other key community members and launch initiatives in the context of our community challenges. We believe these initiatives will lead to increased inter-communal trust and respect for rights and religious freedom of community members. It will also reduce the likelihood that individual will escalate isolated conflict into broader violence. We are inspired by Plan International, The Kukah Centre and our trainers Carefronting to carry out actions that will promote social cohesion, community integration across social, ethnic and religious backgrounds. Our activities are tailored towards restoring the lost humanity once experienced in Kaduna State.
